Wednesday, May 10 – Thursday, May 11www.sompo-intl.com Sompo International is proud to sponsor the 2023Reinsurance &ExcessSurplus LinesSymposium3 Hello and Welcome! On behalf of the Reinsurance & Excess Surplus Lines Interest Group, welcome to Navigating New Realities, the 2023 Reinsurance & Excess Surplus Lines Symposium. With everything going on in the world, the insurance industry continues to evolve and face new challenges. In fact, this is one of the main reasons that we hold the annual Symposium. This past year has been no different with noteworthy changing capacity and terms impacting the reinsurance market, as well as the growth of the non-admitted market. With all of these changing market dynamics, it is important to stay abreast of the latest trends, and I commend you for taking some time out of your busy schedules to participate. The first day of the 2023 Symposium begins with a chance to hear from leaders in the reinsurance industry as they share their thoughts on the latest trends during the “View from the Top” panel. The afternoon session will focus on the rise of fronting insurers and program writers. The second day of the Symposium will address two significant issues impacting the insurance industry and society at large, the effect of natural catastrophes on the property market and active shooter liability. Moderators will be actively monitoring the chat feature during all sessions, so I encourage you to participate and ask questions. In addition to learning from our distinguished panelists, please also take the opportunity to meet and network with other Symposium participants at the two Community Conversations in between sessions. We look forward to connecting with you! If you enjoy this year’s Symposium, please consider getting involved as a member of the Reinsurance & Excess Surplus Lines Interest Group. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to myself or any of the other committee members. I also encourage you to attend In2Risk 2023 from Oct. 5–7 in Washington, D.C. This three day event presents an outstanding opportunity to build your knowledge, expand your network, and immerse yourself in the CPCU Society community. With a wide array of sessions highlighting industry trends, emerging issues, leadership development, and more, this is a can’t miss event and I hope to see you there.
