2024 Conference Preview Reach New Heights at In2Risk Welcome! I’m thrilled to be at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for another fantastic In2Risk event. Whether you’re attending for the first time or a repeat attendee, we are so excited to have you and hope you make the most of your In2Risk experience. If you really lean into the incredible education and networking opportunities over the next few days, I am confident that you will leave here inspired to reach new heights every single day. There is something magical that happens when we come together to lend our unique talents and perspectives, that makes each In2Risk better than the last. In2Risk is a time to activate your superpowers by actively engaging with other attendees and by taking advantage of opportunities to learn from each other. Through that engagement, our collective powers activate and we each emerge as even better versions of ourselves. The result is that we can make a more meaningful impact on our careers, the organizations with which we engage and those we serve. Many months of hard work have gone into preparing for this annual conference. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Society’s volunteer leaders, especially the In2Risk Committee, for lending their time and talents to shape the sessions, networking opportunities, and excitement you are about to experience. Over the next three days, you’ll enjoy inspiring keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, and hot topic sessions. Wind down and connect with two fantastic receptions, structured breaks, and all-attendee meals. You won’t want to miss Thursday night’s Welcome Reception at Universal CityWalk. Did someone say karaoke? But before that, we’ll kick things off and begin reaching new heights with the “flux mindset.” Join change navigator April Rinne and learn to embrace uncertainty to stay grounded in a shifting world. Friday morning’s opening panel, “Engaging the Insurance Ecosystem to Address Climate Risk,” presented in partnership with The Institutes Griffith Foundation, will impartially consider how innovation, research, and regulation can intersect to better address climate risk. Finally, ”The Success Doctor,” Shirley Davis, will share how we can all get beyond questions of “What if?” to realize our dreams. In2Risk will end with our Conferment Ceremony and Closing Celebratory Reception. Congratulations to the 2024 new designees of Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Associate in Claims (AIC) and CPCU! All In2Risk attendees are encouraged to join us, alongside some special guests, as we celebrate our newest designees and the many ways we will activate our superpowers here in Florida. Thank you for being here and sharing your superpowers with us. I can’t wait to meet you. Over the last 25 years, Rinne has established herself as the foremost expert on coping with change across industries worldwide. Through her experience, she has developed a toolkit for managing flux. “Flux is not just change,” Rinne says. “Flux is continuous, relentless change.” In this session, Rinne will explore what it means to have a flux mindset and describe how those that do can better show up for all aspects of life. “We often treat change like one thing, but change is messy and hard and scary, and we hate it,” she says. “And change is amazing and life-changing, and we love it. Here, you’ll learn how to get comfortable with uncertainty and attain inner pacing and balance for both work and your well- being. Rinne redefines what it means to be ready for change, by not just preparing for it but embracing the unknown. She advises: “Think of your career, not as a ladder to climb in one direction, but more like a portfolio to curate as an artist or investor would.” Get excited for change at the opening general session with April Rinne on Thursday, November 7 at 1 p.m. in Coronado H. Opening General Session Preview by Carolann Ingiosi Rinne Make the most of your In2Risk experience and get rewarded for it! AllyDealerBeyond.com7 Facing a Hard Market, Together Navigating the complexities of today’s hard market is challenging, requiring effective collaboration and communication among underwriters, agents, and brokers. At “Unifying Agents, Brokers, and Underwriters to Conquer the Hard Market,” panelists from across the industry will start this process, through an interactive discussion of ways to work together to better confront the challenges of the hard market to drive smarter business decisions and profitability. Attendees can expect to discuss the needs and responsibilities of underwriters, agents, and brokers; opportunities for clearer communication; and how to build an open mindset that focuses on working together to engineer policies that meet clients’ needs. “We all want to write business,” says panelist Steven Fischl, CPCU, ARM-E, ARe, a vice president and regional product leader in Personal Risk Services at Chubb. “It’s just about writing it at the right cost and getting everybody on that same wavelength.” He hopes the session will “explain that we all need to work together and share what either side knows or does not know, as well as thoughts on how to make the situation better.” The goal of this session is to be an interactive forum for ideas on how to better collaborate to achieve success amidst the difficulties of the hard market. Attendees are encouraged to think outside the box and contribute their own ideas so that everyone leaves with useful tools or strategies in mind. To participate, be sure to attend “Unifying Agents, Brokers, and Underwriters to Conquer the Hard Market” on Thursday, November. 7 at 4 p.m. in Coronado K. Expect an in-depth exploration of climate risk, culminating in how innovation, research, and regulation can combine to effectively tackle one of the biggest challenges of our time. The panel for Friday’s general session, “Engaging the Insurance Ecosystem to Address Climate Risk,” features Jon Godfread, the insurance commissioner of North Dakota and president-elect of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC); Dana Popish Severing, partner at Noted Advisory; Charles Nyce, Risk Management & Insurance department chair and associate professor at Florida State University.
